Each scholarship has specific requirements. General criteria that apply to most scholarships include:

- Must be a dependent of HGEA (Hawaii Government Employees Association) member. Member must be in good standing at least one year.
- Must be planning to attend university, community college, vocational or trade school full-time in Fall of 2019.

Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Programs
The APIASF General Scholarship is open to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) high school and college students who will be enrolling or are currently enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university as a degree-seeking undergraduate student in the upcoming academic year.

The Hana LIma Scholarship is a need-based vocational educational scholarship with preference given to non-traditional students: single parents, disabled (meets ADA definition), houseless, sole-income providers, previously incarcerated and wards of the court.
