Applications and all required documents must be hard copies (electronic copies will not be accepted), and received by the Pili Pono office no later than 4:30 pm on March 31, 2016. Documents postmarked after March 31, 2016 will not be accepted.
The primary intent of the Pili Pono Native Hawaiian Scholarship is to provide financial support to Native Hawaiian students enrolled at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa for the 2016-2017 academic year.
The Pili Pono Scholarship awards are appropriated by Financial Aid Services at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and are contingent upon the allocation of sufficient funding. Awards will be allocated towards the cost of full time resident tuition expenses only. Students receiving the Pili Pono scholarship are expected to successfully complete the academic school year with an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or better. Recipients will be expected to perform 50 hours of service to the Native Hawaiian community for the entire academic year.
1. Be of Hawaiian ancestry.
2. Be enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
3. Demonstrate financial need based on the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) from the 2016-2017 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) https://fafsa.ed.gov/.
4. Possess a cumulative High School GPA of 2.50 or better (on a 4.00 scale).
